Best Sleep App

If you are looking for a sleep app for android or iPhone, then the best one on the market is the Sleepbot.  This app has a bunch of features geared towards improved sleep by analyzing your sleep patterns.  It can calculate your nighttime sleep cycle and will wake you up when you are in a light sleep stage. Waking up in a light sleep stage will make you feel more energized and awake.  Sleepbot can also record the noises you make at night, keep track of your sleep debt, analyze your sleep patterns and give you sleep help.  This app is a robust tool to get a better understanding of your sleep habits.

Putting yourself into a relaxed state is sometimes difficult and the only way to set the mood and quiet the mind is to distract it with calming sleep music.  Relax Melodies: Sleep and Yoga is a great app available on the iTunes Store and Google Play that provides 52 different sounds to help tuck you in.  This app can also be used for yoga, concentration, or meditation.

Sleeping Pills

I do not recommend sleeping pills at all and you should always contact your doctor before you even consider using any type of sleeping pill.  Some of them have very hazardous side effects and they can cause dangerous dependencies.  Be advised that even though they say non habit forming, the risk of not being able to fall asleep without them is very high.

If I had to recommend any type of sleep aid I would say that melatonin is the safest option.  Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone that is linked to the circadian rhythm of your body.  Melatonin has less interaction with other drugs and although it has some side effects they are very mild.  Before taking anything, you must consult your doctor for the proper melatonin dosage and use.  If you want more information I recommend checking out this article on Melatonin and Sleep by the sleep foundation where all of the details are outlined.

Sleep can sometimes be a very intimidating subject, but it is also very important.  When you start to get frustrated you need to step back take a deep breath and relax.  If one of the methods listed in this article does not work for you don’t give up just try another one.  If you have another method that has worked for you please let me know in the comments.  If you liked the article subscribe to my newsletter for more useful knowledge.  Sleep is something you will be doing for the rest of your life so you might as well get it right.
